Rest Day
Each Sunday is a Rest Day. There is no new Bible reading to do. Today, the goal is simple: rest in the presence of God. Maybe you need to use today to get caught up on the reading plan if you’re behind, maybe you want to journal what you’re learning so you don’t forget what God is teaching you, or maybe you want to spend time in concentrated prayer–do that. Above all, just spend time in God’s presence.
Each Rest Day, we will have an additional element to help you dig deeper. Sometimes it will be extra resources to further your study, a video to watch, or a podcast to listen to. Sometimes we’ll have a verse to commit to memorize to help you hide God’s Word in your heart.

My focus of prayer this past week from our readings has been Psalm 139:14
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
What a unique and beautiful image of God’s handiwork in each and every one of us!
Psalm 139:23-24 was my mother’s life-verse and one that has deeply resonated in my heart. I paid close attention to the invitation issued to God by David—to search, know, test, see, & lead him. When we are vulnerable and honest, God moves in powerful ways.
For me, Psalm 141:3 made an impression. “Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
I suppose with age comes wisdom. Therefore, I don’t do as many of the foolish acts I did in my youth.
However, today, my words cause me more peril. I need a guard over my lips, Lord.
Ephesians 4:29 is a good reminder to let know unwholesome talk come out of my mouth but only words that are good for building others up.
