Rest Day

Today is a Rest Day. There is no new Bible reading to do. Today, the goal is simple: rest in the presence of God. Maybe you need to use today to get caught up on the reading plan if you’re behind, maybe you want to journal what you’re learning so you don’t forget what God is teaching you, or maybe you want to spend time in concentrated prayer–do that. Above all, just spend time in God’s presence. Each Rest Day, we will also introduce a memory verse for the week. Meditate on this week’s verse and begin to memorize it.

Memory Verse

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭40:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Memorization Tip

Use community as a tool to help you in your scripture memorization journey! Pick a few friends, or your Life Group, with whom to memorize scripture. Practice together, hold each other accountable, and encourage one another as you work together. Remember that the best way to stick with a challenge is not to go at it alone!

  1. This verse today was true in my life 1 year ago. I was in a abusive frightening situation held against my will emotionally abuse to break me. All I had was my faith in God even while my neck was about to be broken my head slam into windo my leg and arm twisted to break. God did not let it happen he heard me and delivered me out of the slime of the devils pit. Praise to God!!! Miracles do happen everyday! People need to tell everyone their miracles in their life!
